Lifelike graphic novel in stores now!
My webcomic, Lifelike, has been collected and printed as a deluxe hardcover graphic novel by IDW Publishing! It's currently available in bookstores, libraries, and comic shops. Visit the Lifelike "mini-site" for info on how to order your copy via Amazon or your favorite store. You can also read what reviewers are saying about Lifelike, and then follow the link to read the webcomic for yourself.
"Unmasked" - PANEL's Mid-Ohio-Con Party a Success!
The PANEL collective uped the ante with their second annual Unmasked Party, a free gathering that celebrated this year's Mid-Ohio-Con convention. The party took place on Friday, November 23, from 8 PM till midnight. The venue for this event was the awesome Underground at Barley's Brewing Company Ale House No. 1. The free party was open to all comic fans, pros, exhibitors, attendees, and friends and family. New this year: Live Art Throwdown! Artists did sketches on the spot. Look for a link here soon as the artwork will be auctioned on ebay, with proceeds donated to the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund and The Hero Initiative. PANEL's S.P.A.C.E. Party
The PANEL collective was proud to sponsor their second annual S.P.A.C.E. Launch Party, a free gathering to celebrate this year's S.P.A.C.E. convention. The party took place on Saturday April 21, from 8 PM till late. The venue for this event was the very cool Momo2 lounge and tea house. Thanks to everyone who came out to hang with us and their fellow small press creators. Click below for the show poster, featuring artwork by the inimitable Matt Kish:
Welcome Melt magazine readers
If you heard about this site via the Brainbot, Jr. comic strip in Melt magazine, then welcome. My name is Dara, I'm a comic book writer, and Ferret Press is my self-publishing imprint. I'm also a founding member of PANEL, a Columbus-based writers/artists collective, which my partner-in-crime Tom Williams is also a member of. To date we have published 8 volumes of our Panel anthology, which you can preview alongside my solo projects in the Books section of this site. And finally, don't forget to check out our group Blog, where you'll find our musings on comics, art, the creative process, politics, the web, and life.
PANEL: Travel, vol. 8 of our anthology
The latest volume of our small press anthology is now available for sale. The Columbus, Ohio writers and artists collaborative known as Panel present PANEL: Travel, a 52-page comic with a stamped cover, in the size and shape of a passport, for a mere two dollars. Drop by the Books section for a preview.
Pictures from our "Unmasked" party
Ferret Press and the writers and artists of the PANEL collective sponsored Unmasked, a free pre-Mid Ohio Con party on Friday, November 24, 2006. "The Underground" at Barley's Brewing Company Ale House No. 1 was the venue for this event, featuring free admission, free appetizers, and live music by the Poophouse Jug Band. A great time was had by all. Click here to view pictures from the Unmasked party.
Comic Book Challenge and San Diego Con 2006
Dara was one of the 50 semi-finalists competing in the Comic Book Challenge contest, which took place in San Diego during the week of Comic-Con International. Check out his photos from both events, featuring celebrity judges, fans in costumes, and life-size Hot Wheels.
