       Mid-Ohio-Con coverage

Another Thanksgiving weekend, another Mid-Ohio-Con. I have a love/hate relationship with this con: I love the fact that it's in my backyward, friendly, non-hectic, and all the guests are accessible. But every year I'm let down by how mainstream-focused the fans are, making our small press/indy books a real hard sell (both in terms of interests and commerce). But anyway, it was still a fun show, and it's always great to catch up with "con friends" that I see once a year, plus checking out some new books from fellow indy creators, picking up a bunch of cheap comics from the quarter bins (to be handed out next Halloween to the kids) and of course throwing the big pre-con shindig.

here are some con write ups I saw:

  • Chuck Moore at Comics Related has extensive coverage of this past weekend's show, including photos from our Unmasked party (check out Tom drawing!)
"I’m going to start my look back on Saturday at Mid-Ohio-Con with a tip of the metaphorical hat to the small press creators at this weekend’s show."

  • And speaking of Tom, he get's the best headline award for his short con report: "There's a Darth Vader walking by a giant pickle"

  • Newsarama's blog also has a few links to other MOC write ups.

  • Sarah Ryan tells you Ten Things About Mid-Ohio-Con.

  • David Willis of the webcomic Shortpacked also blogs a bit about MOC.

I didn't take any photos at the show itself, but Wendy took a bunch at the Unmasked party. I'll try and post them soon...
