Color me skeptical about the new Green Arrow show, which I guess is premiering tonight on the CW. But the other day I saw a neighbor kid with a bow and arrow pretending to be him. So I dunno, maybe the thing has legs.

On the other hand, he might have gotten Green Arrow from the Brave & the Bold cartoon. And he is kind of a weird kid.

But here’s hoping it’s good and brings a few more people into our little subculture.

  • Andy Bennett says:

The Hunger Games has done an awful lot for archery. I don’t think Green Arrow will EVER amount to anything in popular culture as a whole…

  • Tony Goins says:

That’s what I thought, too. But the kid said specifically he was being Green Arrow. He was 5, but still.

  • Ray Tomczak says:

I’m not overly optimistic about this show myself, especially given how badly the character has been handled in the comics over the past couple of years.
Of course that’s also why I really hope the show is good…It’d be nice to have some new GA stories coming out that don’t make me embarrassed to admit how much I like the character.

  • Tony says:

That’s a weird spot to be in, liking a character but not liking the stories. Have there ever been Green Arrow stories that you liked?

  • Tom Williams says:

I can’t say I’ve read or followed Green Arrow in anything. It’s a good state of mind to be in going into this sort of show. That said, it was a pretty good pilot. It’s unavoidable, being the CW, but I hope they keep the soapy Smallville-ish crap to a minimum. The first chase seen in the beginning ruled.
